Crochet Granny Square

The Traditional Basic Granny Square is a classic pattern. It's the foundation of millions of afghans that have been made throughout history. They are quick and easy to make and are great for using small scraps of yarn.  Although there are many variations on the granny square, the traditional one is a double-crocheted square made with a series of chains and double-crochets worked in the round. They can be used for everything from blankets, to scarves, to pillows, and even pants!

You will learn how to: read a pattern, double crochet, make a granny square in one or two colors

You should already know how to: chain stitch and single crochet

Materials needed: at least 50 yards of two colors of worsted weight yarn and a size H or I crochet hook.
